How commercials are affecting entertainment of Bangladesh?

How commercials are affecting entertainment of Bangladesh?

The trend of entertainment has changed dramatically by including commercials as integral part of it. From my point, I totally consider this change as negative as it is pushing viewers away, therefore, impacting potentials and prospect of entertainment.

Commercials supersede the application of entertainment:

First of all, frequency of commercial appear sometimes thrice with an average of 4 minutes each in a thirty minute program. In fact, people lose their patience to stick with any particular channel after spending 5 minutes on average. This means, it turns out to be that viewer spends only one minute with the core entertainment and then switches to another channel with given interval. Knowing the beginning of unending commercials, viewer does not get any single hint for how long that is going to continue. Likewise other foreign channels, no hint or duration of advert, like a digital clock, is given at the right top corner of screen. Entertainment is entirely falling short among general people despite having juicy contents with engaging stories. The total industry has come into question; do we really need to know forcefully? Or are we really interested of buying while entertaining ourselves?

Quality of Advertisement-

Let us face the truth by accepting channels as non-charity organization. Therefore, It is obvious without funding or sponsorships, these channels might not survive. I would say, obviously it is a legitimate question to confront to break logics into pieces. To be honest, nowadays, contents of indigenously produced adverts are entirely outdated. By investing millions to shoot an advert abroad might not be appealing if it does not have authenticity (I mean not copied), to the point, logical humour and most importantly customer centricity. Sometimes, I feel, do we really think of customers before making these adverts? Do we really ask ourselves, why would customers buy that product instead of other similar product available in market? Answer is a stark “No”, actually we less likely think in that way. In real scenario, if we spend 1 hour with a Bangladeshi channel, eventually irritation starts growing and unknowingly it forces me to change this channel to some other foreign channels to watch. Considering relevance, retention of audience and contents of intervals, we all know, foreign channels at least have an idea with a framework about how long they should put their adverts on the screen.

Criticising the Dubbing Commercials:

Now lets criticise our national and multinational companies where our Bengali employees work in terms of majority of number. Most of the advertisements are either dubbed from Indian advert or incoherent in relation with the real context of the product or service. Unlike telephone companies, majority of the organisations find it easier to dub it from Calcutta or from a local studio just by hiring a professional to give voice. On the other hand, to produce an advert for condensed milk, do we really need to go Kashmir or Switzerland? Or Just by praising qualities, features or amazing aspects of usage, can never attract consumers, as customer doesn’t know, when and where or most importantly why he needs to buy it.  We never talk by the way a customer might think of. Attention could be brought with an attractive and beautiful model, but honestly, from customer’s perspective, we barely remember the name but that hot and happening model.

Suggestions:

To be honest, I strongly oppose this copy-paste concept, instead, for the sake of our culture and heritage, produce an advert which could help this to stand our country out of the crowd. From this perspective, I would like to give hats off to PRAN group, which has done tremendous improvements in terms of keeping that thing in mind; however, they are Bangladeshi company and on the other hand they are flourishing as MNC in other countries. To make an effective and happening advert, we need to go back to the drawing board and brainstorm a bit to look up something amazing and witty in a simplistic way.

Some Alternatives:

Why don’t we study with a book instead of finding idea from you-tube channel? Thousands of books are in place to help us opening a new concept out of the blue. Without this so called copy-paste concept, something new could change the way of your business. This means, we don’t know which idea may emerge on our mind or may enlighten us to adorn existing idea with something fabulous edition. Most importantly, last but not the least, a standard of broadcasting of adverts should be in place to limit the number of frequency, quantity and length of advert to avoid clutters of advertisements.

Can social media help relieving our pain points?

Can social media help relieving our pain points?

We frequently use social media to get rid of our loneliness. Actually, it has become a very so called intimate friend of ours without which survival may come into question. People possess an account of social media, for instance, Facebook, like an asset or sometimes a market place where we need to show off our lifestyles from every angle. In other words, through showing off we can represent ourselves to what extent we can fake the way we live. Thus, people living around us may sometime fall into a pressure of leading a prosperous and an exciting life to be considered as a hot tomato by others.

Here comes the question, are we really happy by the way we edit our image to post it online? Does it really make sense in terms of uploading pictures and getting likes of others? However, 90% of people find satisfaction in it which was proved and established by many. Besides, many believe that, doing something stupid always brings pleasure for no reason. Actually, it is nothing but occupying our brain with unproductive and addictive activities through which a group of talented and shrewd people take  pretty financial benefits out of this.

As far as, society and relationship are concerned, for the sake of so called newly defined “friendship”, people can make themselves connected in order to create relationship. Regardless of the type of acquaintance, people make friends on facebook with a single click of his mouse without considering further consequences. However, people can remain connected as long as facebook account is active, eventually that number of person increases exponentially to a large of number of friends.

Now, another issue arises, which is easy as pie, how effective bonding it helps to build? Or maybe it is limited with only giving likes, posting comments and showing reactions on a time to time basis instead of taking a cup of tea together. Do we really remember the time when that friend gave a pat on my shoulder? Or the time when you started learning guitar with the direction of your friend?
